Biography

Dr. Jorge Chahla is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in complex knee, hip, and sports-related injuries. He is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Rush University Medical Center, serving as the Director of Biomechanical Research and the International Fellowship Program. He is also a team physician for the Chicago White Sox (MLB), the Chicago Bulls (NBA), and the Chicago Fire (MLS). Dr. Chahla completed fellowships at top U.S. programs and earned his PhD with Summa Cum Laude honors from the Catholic University of Argentina (UCA).  

Dr. Chahla is internationally recognized for his contributions to sports medicine through minimally invasive techniques and novel biological treatments. His patient-specific approach utilizes arthroscopic techniques to reduce recovery time, ensuring a quick return to sport. Post-operative care includes coordinated assessments and interactions with physical therapists, coaches, and trainers to achieve pre-injury levels of performance.  

With over 250 publications in prestigious journals, 30+ book chapters, and five edited books, Dr. Chahla presents his research globally. His anatomical knowledge has led to the development of novel surgical techniques documented in his publications. He has received grants from various institutions and numerous awards, including the American Academy for Orthopaedic Surgeons Award of Excellence and multiple best-paper awards.  

Along with his commitment to providing outstanding patient care, Dr. Chahla believes strongly in the importance of advancing the field of sports medicine through leadership, advocacy, and education. He teaches medical students, residents, and fellows and serves on numerous national and international committees. He is a member of the European Society for Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery, and Arthroscopy and serves on the Editorial board of the Arthroscopy Journal.
