Biography

Dr. Elizabeth M. Pieroth is a board-certified Clinical Neuropsychologist and the Director of the Concussion Program at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush. Previously, she served as the Associate Director of the NorthShore University HealthSystem Sports Concussion Program.

Since 1997, Dr. Pieroth has been actively involved in assessing players in the National Hockey League (NHL) and is the Head Injury/Concussion specialist for several major sports teams, including the Chicago Bears (NFL), Blackhawks (NHL), White Sox (MLB), Fire (MLS), and the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). She also provides her expertise to numerous colleges and high schools across Illinois. Additionally, Dr. Pieroth is the Co-Director of the NFL Neuropsychology Consulting Program.

Dr. Pieroth is deeply engaged in concussion and brain injury advocacy. She is on the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of Illinois and is a member of various committees, including the USA Football Heads Up Advisory Committee, the NFL Head, Neck and Spine Committee, the U.S. Soccer Concussion Task Force, and the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois Safety Committee.

Her contributions to the field have been recognized with several awards, including the 2018 Chicago Illini of the Year Award, the 2016 USA Hockey Excellence in Safety Award, the University of Illinois 2016 LAS Alumni Achievement Award, the 2014 AHAI Presidents Award, and the 2012 Brain Injury Association of IL Make A Difference Award.

Dr. Pieroth has published extensively on concussion management and neuropsychological assessment. She has recently completed her Master’s in Public Health through the Medical College of Wisconsin.
